The Met Gala has revealed its new set of celebrity co-chairs for next year, and the lineup is one of the most glamorous yet. Beyoncé, Venus Williams and Nicole Kidman will join Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour in hosting the famous fashion event in May. This powerful group brings together music, sports, film and fashion, promising a star-studded night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
For Venus Williams, this will be her first time as a Met Gala co-chair. She takes on the role seven years after her sister Serena co-chaired the event. Beyoncé last served as an honorary chair in 2013, while Nicole Kidman co-chaired in 2003 and 2005. As always, Anna Wintour continues her long-standing leadership of the charity event, which last year raised a record $31 million for the museum’s Costume Institute.
Along with the co-chairs, the museum also announced a large host committee led by designer Anthony Vaccarello and actor-filmmaker Zoë Kravitz. The committee includes musicians such as Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, Yseult, LISA and Sam Smith; dancers like Misty Copeland; actors including Teyana Taylor, Gwendoline Christie, Elizabeth Debicki and Lena Dunham; athletes like A’ja Wilson; and models Alex Consani, Paloma Elsesser and Lauren Wasser.
The theme of the 2026 Met Gala will match the museum’s new spring exhibition titled “Costume Art.” The dress code for the gala is expected to be revealed soon. The exhibition will explore how fashion has been represented in art across centuries. It will highlight different body types, featuring themes like the Classical Body, the Naked Body, the Pregnant Body and even the Aging Body.
This new exhibition will open in the museum’s newly created Conde M. Nast Galleries, a 12,000-square-foot space located near the Great Hall. This area was once the museum’s retail store but has now been redesigned to host major fashion exhibits and reduce overcrowding during popular shows. The project marks an important moment for the Costume Institute, giving fashion a more prominent place in the museum.
“Costume Art” will open to the public on May 10, 2026, and will run until January 10, 2027. With its new curatorial vision and expanded space, the exhibition promises to offer a fresh look at how clothing and art connect through history.
